SUMMER CAMPS 2010 for 3 - 4 year olds, 4 - 6 year olds, 7 - 12 year olds, and Jr. High, & Sr. High
Most of MISS LALA'S CAMPS (not PreK or Portfolio Camps) will be housed at the Orchard Learning Acacemy's suite behind Great Harvest Bread Co. in our shopping plaza, but are still solely planned, staffed, and run by Miss LaLa's Community Arts Centre. This suite has several classrooms & using this space will allow Miss LaLa's to continue to run regular classes & Open Play for other customers. We are very excited about our Summer plans and may have even more camps to add later...possibly video production for Jr. High and Sr. High campers or Science camps. I would love to offer a clothing design/fashion camp, so please contact Miss LaLa if you are experienced and interested in running this camp. Thanks and we look forward to hearing from you soon. CAMP DESCRIPTIONS:
Camps include fun, creative, structured, educational activities in the areas listed above. Older & younger children will be divided for most activities (many divisions listed above).
Each camp will have 1 adult lead teacher, a Jr. Counselor (mentorships available for 11-13 year olds upon request). If more than 6 campers are in a camp we will also have a teen or adult Camp Assistant with experience with kids as well as the camp specialty (theatre, art, etc.)
Each camp will require a minimum of 4 paid campers to be confirmed and our maximum will be about 12 children per divided age group per camp (i.e. 4-6y & 7-12y).
Children with special needs are welcome in our camps, but please call to discuss your request w/ Miss LaLa so we may place your child in the best possible camp for their needs (i.e. teacher's experience, # of campers, etc.)
Full-day campers will eat lunch from 12-12:30pm.
All a.m. and p.m. camps will include a snack and Miss LaLa will collect much-appreciated snack donations beginning May 15th.
MUSICAL THEATRE Camps
(Miss Shannon lead teacher) children will play theatre games, learn scripts, and help create artwork for minor sets, props, &/or costumes. Families & friends are invited to watch a performance on the last day of camp.
ART Camps
(Darby Chism lead teacher) children will work in many forms of media including drawing, painting, , pastels, collage, clay, & more...some taking several steps to complete. Children's books are included as part of the education to make it even more fun. Campers are encouraged to follow their passions within the setting of each project.
EVERYTHING CREATIVE Camps
(instructors tba, but we always hire loving, educated, & experienced adult teachers). These camps will include a fun mixture of creative outlets such as music, art, drama, dance, & even some history to keep everyone interested (activities vary with theme). The full-day campers will also have some indoor &/or outside play/social time.
CREATIVE PRESCHOOLERS Camps
(instructors tba, but we always hire loving, educated, & experienced adult teachers). These camps will be held at Miss LaLa's Community Arts Centre so they can have time in our Treehouse play area, plus have class in our theatre/music room and art room. These little campers will have loads of fun with activities built for their particular ages.
PORTFOLIO Camps
(Laura D. Surace lead teacher) are specifically designed for serious artists. Campers will work on artworks to build up their portfolios, learn to stretch canvas, will visit a local gallery, and even see the behind-the-scenes workings of an art studio or gallery. Fun with Art History Camp will delve into unique artists of the past and allow campers to recreate their own versions of these artists works.
REGISTRATION & PAYMENTS:
Families may register
1) in person, 2) via phone, or 3) via email w/ child's name, b-date, camp name, parent's contact info., and method of payment at LaLasCamps@gmail.com.
Please do not register or pay through the site. A $25 deposit per camp week per family must accompany your registration. Balance (less deposit) is due in full 2 weeks prior to each camp, but you may make payments toward camps any time after registering. For your convenience fees may be paid by Cash, Check (to Miss LaLa's), Visa, or MasterCard via phone, mail, or in person.
REFUND POLICY: Class fees are non-refundable after the session you registered for has begun. If cancelling for any reason after the session begins the fees may be kept as a credit for one of the 2 following sessions with the same teacher as long as this is requested and approved by the same teacher and mgmt. (i.e. fees may not be transferred between teachers after the session has begun.) Summer Camp fees become non-refundable 2 weeks prior to the camp for which you have registered. Upon request those fees MIGHT be transferred to another camp, but this may only be approved if your child's space in camp has been filled by another paying customer. The Summer Camp Registration Fee of $25 per camp week is non-refundable from the time it is paid.
DISCOUNTS: Each family receives a $25 discount for multiple camps, including siblings in the same camp week. For example: 1st child half-day = $125, 1st child in additional half-day camp=$100, 2nd child in half-day camp = $100. Two (2) half-day camps the same week are considered 1 full-day camp with this discount previously figured into price. PreK Camps receive a $10 discount due to the low price. Portfolio Camps are excluded due to the quality/price of supplies needed for these camps and field trips.
OTHER NOTES: We do not have sports activities, so injuries are rare at our camps. All children, no matter what their age, will be expected to behave in a respectful manner to staff and fellow campers. Inappropriate behavior will be discussed with the parent so we can work together to resolve any issues and help teach the child. Since each camp has a unique theme children are able to attend several camps and have a variety of fun learning experiences.
