Join us for the 2nd annual Recycled Animal Contest. This year, we want to see your best recycled fish! Create any fish you can image from found and recycled materials. The Chattahoochee Nature Center’s own Celebrity Box Turtle will be judging the sculptures for originality and creative use of materials.

Soak up the summer fun at Fernbank Museum during 97 Days of Play, featuring a variety of unique activities, events and fun-filled ways to keep families entertained and inspired during the summer months.
Stratton Movie Matinee
Come enjoy a G rated movie at Stratton Library at 2:00pm on Thursdays in June and July. Feel free to bring a blanket and pillow and get comfortable.
Alpharetta Police Department with KidVentures
Heading back to the police station due to popular demand! Your child(ren) will enjoy an exciting safety course teaching your kids important rules to make them more confident. We’ll take a tour of the APD seeing the police cars, fire trucks,K9 dog, SWAT vehicles and more. We will also have a short lesson from Officer Tobias and kids and parents will be able to ask any questions about safety issues. This KidVenture is $10 per child. It sold out last time, so register early.
Weekly Storytime
Come join us for Storytime in our Children’s Department followed by a coloring page or activity.
Babies/Toddlers Story Time: Good Night/Good Nap-Time Stories and Songs
Baby and toddler story times include age appropriate stories, songs, activities, and more. A parent or caregiver is expected to stay with the child and participate in all of the activities. Children may bring their favourite blanket and bear to snuggle with during story time. Kids are welcome to wear their favorite PJs.
Miss Susan’s Superstars at Powder Springs Library
Babies graduate to this program at 18 months, designed specifically for toddlers up through age 3. With emphasis on stories, music, rhythmn, movement, and art, children will discover something new and exciting at every program! The program lasts approximately 45 minutes and a caregiver must be present.
Creature Feature – Incredible Insects!
All Ages. CNC is home to many different creatures – even six-legged ones! Join a naturalist as you explore what insects you may find at CNC as well as the animals that might make a meal of them!
Toddler Thursdays at High Museum
Bring your tot each Thursday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for a new way of looking at the High’s collection through letters, numbers, colors, and shapes. No registration required. Free with museum admission. Free for members. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
Swing on over to the High for a roarin’ good time as we explore animals in art this summer! Each week, head to the galleries to spot a new animal, and create a wild work of art in the workshop.
July Toddler Thursday Activities:
July 5: Butterfly
Find a pair of beautiful butterflies in our decorative arts collection. Then create your own butterfly that won’t fly away.
July 12: Dog
Go hunting through the galleries to find man’s best friend, and make a fetching hunting cap to wear on your adventure!
July 19: Fish
We’re going under the sea today at the High! See how many fish you can catch in the galleries and create a shiny fish to take home. If you’re lucky you might even spot a mermaid!
July 26: Peacock
Find a bird with beautiful feathers parading through the galleries. Then craft a paper peacock of your vey own!
August Toddler Thursday Activities:
August 2: Fox
We’re going on a fox hunt today inspired by an early American inn sign. Create your own sign to hang outside your room.
August 9: Bird
We’re going to Africa today to find a beautiful bird perched on top of a crown. Afterward, you can make your own bird crown in the workshops. Maybe someone will mistake you for royalty!
August 16: Snake
Head to the galleries to find some large, colorful snakes, and then create a silly snake to take home!
August 23: Horse
We’re horsin’ around at the Museum today! We’ll be painting some beautiful landscapes complete with a horse.
August 30: Lion
Roar! There’s a lion loose in the galleries! Find him, and create a fearsome lion collage, too!
Nature Hut at Tugaloo State Park
See our animal displays and learn about owls, foxes, birds of prey, snakes and more. Visit with Harvey our Corn Snake and learn fascinating facts about the snakes you find in the park and your own backyard. $5 parking.
Summer Storytime
Come join us June and July for one of our two weekly Storytimes at 11:00 am and 1:00 pm. The same story will be read during each Storytime.
Fantastic Thursday at Central Library
All Ages. Thursdays from 2-5:30 P.M. Rotating free-form activity featured each week. Crafts, family games, Legos, and Nintendo Wii games.
June 21- The Cobb County Water Dept. will share the wonders of frogs and toads! Readit, Readit!
June 28- Do you like Legos? Are you creative? Come and dream up great lego creations!
July 5- We’ll show a movie. Title to be determined.
July 12- What makes a boat float? Come try out some designs. In case of rain we will have an art extravaganza! The boats will be outside so come prepared for sun!
July 19- Paper airplanes will be flying in and out of the library! Come test your designs on our race course.
July 26- Draw like a Wimpy Kid! Join Allison in drawing just like a Wimpy Kid!

Open Studio at High Museum
FREE Open Studio for teens! This summer, find inspiration in the High’s galleries, make art in our studios, and meet new people. We provide all the supplies, you bring the creativity. We’ll even open our Fashion Lab, complete with sewing machines, fabric, and lots of thrift store rags.
Teens age 15 and older only; drinks and snacks provided.
Cocktails in the Garden
Mix and mingle at the most beautiful cocktail party in the city! Groove to a live DJ, catch a chef demo in the Edible Garden, and watch for surprise cultural performances. Complete the evening with dinner at MetroFresh in the Garden.

Movies in Central Park
Every Thursday night beginning May 3, Atlantic Station’s Central Park will be transformed into an outdoor movie amphitheater with a movie screen so monumental, you’ll feel like you’re in the movies! Movie showing begins at sundown.
