What to do on Tybee Island
There are so many things for the family to do while visiting Tybee Island.
Bring your children to explore the five acre site of the Tybee Light Station. It is over 270 years old and is one of the only lighthouses in the US that still has intact historical support buildings.
For the Civil War buffs there is Fort Pulaski on Cockspur Island. The fort was built between 1829 and 1845. In 1861, it was captured by the Union Army and used to house detained Confederate soldiers along with ammunition.
For the science enthusiast there is the Tybee Island Marine Science Center. The center has year-round programs for island visitors, scouts, and school groups on the beach, in the marsh, on the water, in the classroom and at the Coastal Gallery.
Finally, there is the Tybee Pier & Pavilion which is home to dance and musical events. Fishing is allowed off the pier and picnic tables are provided for a family lunch.
Bikes are welcome on Tybee Island and if you don’t have room to bring your own, Tim’s Bike and Beach Gear makes renting a bike for everyone in your family is easy. My husband and daughter rode their Sun® ‘Tug-a-Bug’ Bike Trailer and my daughter had a blast! You can also rent beach gear including beach chairs, umbrellas, and a beach cart.

Where to Stay on Tybee Island
One of the best and most convenient places to stay on Tybee Island is a vacation rental homes. They are a home away from home and also very private.

There is also a bedroom on the ground floor with a king bed and a queen sleeper. The second bedroom on the ground floor has a full bed along with a twin bed.
For this vacation home the Mid-season (Aug. 23rd to Nov. 7th) costs for five nights are $2,509.00 to seven nights at $3,289.00. The off-season (Nov. 8th to March 1st) are $2,179.00 for five nights and $2,869.00 for a seven nights stay.
