A day in the life of a stressed… (Part 2) – I Miss, I Love, I Want

by Alicia on April 22, 2010

This is Part 2 of my article A day in the life of a stressed, exhausted, and overwhelmed work from home mom.. read if you dare“.

I miss..

•    Going to the bookstore with or without the kids
•    Getting my hair cut regularly
•    Scrapbooking
•    Falling asleep on my own, without a sleeping pill
•    Walking up Kennessaw Mountain while the kids are in school.  I don’t do that now because I feel like I have too many other things I should be doing.
•    Walking on the treadmill.  Ok, I don’t really miss that but I need to do it.
•    Playing lengthy games with Sebastian
•    Going out to eat
•    Taking the kids to the playground.  Again, I don’t do that because I feel like there are too many other things I should be doing like laundry, work, etc.
•    Having a clean house
•    Getting monthly massages
•    Having a nanny
•    Knitting
•    Reading
•    Watching TV
•    Seeing my husband – he works a lot these days
•    Socializing with other adults (thanks for putting up with us Kim and Jeff)
•    Being able to go places when Tim is off work – he’s always busy doing stuff around the house when he’s home.
•    Being able to watch a movie without thinking about what else I should be doing
•    Eating whatever I want, whenever I want
•    I miss my sister.  She moved to Austin, TX from Atlanta in January and don’t talk to her nearly as often as I’d thought I would.
•    Talking to and seeing my friends.  I don’t answer the phone often because it’s not a good time to talk.  I’m either working, mediating an argument between the kids, or trying to play or read with them and don’t want to mess up that moment.

I love..

•    Being in the yard with the kids
•    Reading to the kids
•    Listening to music while I’m working
•    Being able to work from home
•    My family
•    Being able to travel when we want because I work from home
•    Being the editor of AtlantaMoms.com and TheMommyInsider.com
•    .. that my kids are involved in great activities like Boy Scouts, gymnastics, animation classes, and dance.

Things I want:

- I want to plan Madelyn’s 4th birthday party (May 9th!)
- look for a mommy’s helper or nanny
- go to dinner or lunch with a friend
- go out with my husband.. alone
- attend more social business events.. really enjoyed the last few I attended!
- go to playground, with the kids of course
- have the carpets cleaned
- have the house cleaned
- an iPad.. am I dreaming?
- play the piano more
- play a game with my mom when we’re at her house
- get the kids summer activities planned
- start vlogging (video blogging)
